The Rustic Gourmet
November 29, 2007
Edible British Columbia and Blue Planet Kayaking have partnered up to offer a truly unique gastronomic adventure.
This 3 day 2 night trek will partner you with James Bray, a local chef and kayak guide. He will guide your eyes and taste buds to some of British Columbia’s greatest views and cuisine. You will venture through the DeCourcey Archipelago to witness mother nature’s glory; expect to see bald eagles, harbour seals, otters and other local citizens.
Your a tent on the beach is all the accommodations you need for the two night adventure. This is where James’ other passions come alive. Gone are the hotdogs and marshmallows, you can expect locally sourced delicacies such as pasture raised Cowichan Bay duck breast & confit leg with fingerling potatoes, braised local greens and a pinot noir reduction. To ensure that you are smiling at the end of the meal, each dish is paired with a local wine.
These two companies are accepting bookings for the 2008 season, and you may want to book ahead as this is a once in a lifetime experience. The tours depart from Naniamo and start at $699 per person plus tax. Go to http://www.edible-britishcolumbia.com

Do you think that the pairing of rustic experiences with gourmet food is a good idea? You you like to go on this trip?
